Our Ethos of Modularity: 10-Series

Engineered to Serve

At CH Precision, modularity is more than a design choice—it is a guiding philosophy. Most high-end products ask the listener to conform to fixed architectures, imposing their limitations as part of the experience. CH takes the opposite approach. Each component is conceived as an instrument of possibility, one that adapts to the listener rather than the other way around. Through carefully engineered flexibility, our products can be expanded, upgraded, or reconfigured without redundancy, ensuring that every stage of ownership preserves and builds upon the original investment. In this way, modularity is not simply convenience; it is a tool of freedom, making it possible for a system to evolve in step with the music lover’s journey.

This philosophy mirrors the culture of CH Precision itself: a team of engineers designing not for abstract theory, but for people whose rooms, systems, and aspirations are as individual as their musical tastes. By creating architectures that can be tailored, refined, and continuously evolved, we empower listeners to shape their systems around their own priorities—whether that means unlocking new performance levels, integrating new sources, or pursuing ultimate reference playback. The result is an experience that honors more than fidelity to the music: it honors fidelity to the listener, meeting them where they are today and carrying them as far as their passion for music will take them.

D10 Reference Transport—Options & Configurability

In the D10 Reference Transport, modularity is focused solely on the Clock Sync board. This is intentional: at the point where a digital signal leaves the transport and enters the DAC, timing becomes the single most critical determinant of performance. Unlike data integrity, which is protected by robust error correction, jitter introduced at this interface cannot be removed downstream. By making the Clock Sync board modular, the D10 gives owners the ability to elevate system accuracy precisely where it matters most.

This approach also ensures long-term flexibility. As clocking technology evolves, the D10 can always be paired with the cleanest, lowest-phase-noise reference available—whether from its internal upgrade path or CH’s T10 10 MHz Time Reference. In systems where multiple sources are synchronized to a central clock, the modular Clock Sync board allows the D10 to integrate seamlessly, protecting the coherence of the entire digital chain

C10 Reference DAC—Options, Upgrades, & Configurability

The C10 Reference DAC’s modular architecture gives listeners the freedom to configure their digital front end exactly as needed. Three identical input slots provide seamless customization, with every C10 shipping standard with CH Precision’s proprietary DIG_HD_IN board. The two remaining slots remain open for expansion, allowing the C10 to adapt to the system it serves. Importantly, when the optional ETH_HD_IN streaming board is added, the existing Ethernet control board is replaced—so enabling streaming does not consume one of the input slots.

Options extend well beyond conventional connectivity. The Ethernet Streaming HD board enables high-resolution playback from networked sources via UPnP or Roon, with direct access to Qobuz, TIDAL, and Internet radio. Unlike DACs built on outsourced modules, CH’s proprietary streaming platform preserves signal integrity, timing precision, and musical flow. Additional boards include the USB_IN module for direct computer playback and the Clock Sync board, offering one clock input and two outputs for integration with external references such as the T10 Time Reference. A second DIG_HD_IN board can also be installed for specialized setups.

Yet the C10 is more than a configurable hub—it is also the foundation of an upgrade path that deepens performance step by step. The C10 includes its own dedicated power supply and is not compatible with the X1 external supply. Expanding with the C10 Conductor separates digital and analog domains into dedicated chassis, delivering even greater purity. Integrating a T10 Time Reference elevates temporal precision across the entire system. And for those who continue the journey, pairing the C10 with the D10 Transport creates a digital playback chain without equal.

Each choice is executed without compromise, transforming the C10 into a bespoke digital hub. More than a list of inputs, its modular design reflects CH Precision’s culture: engineering instruments that adapt to the listener, preserving musical fidelity while anticipating future ambitions.

P10 Reference Phono Preamplifier—Options & Configurability

The P10 Reference Phono Preamplifier sets a new standard for what a phono preamplifier can deliver—not only in musical performance, but in adaptability. With four fully independent inputs—two trans-impedance current-sensing and two voltage-sensing MC/MM circuits—it effortlessly accommodates multiple tonearms and cartridges, from low-output moving coils to high-output MM designs. The voltage-sensing inputs can be tailored with exceptional precision: gain is adjustable in refined 3 dB steps, and loading values are determined manually or suggested by CH Precision’s advanced software analysis. The system measures cartridge behavior in real time, proposes optimal values, and then withdraws completely—leaving the signal path purely analog.

The platform itself is designed to grow. Owners can begin with the standard stereo two-chassis model and, when ready, expand to a full four-chassis true monaural topology. In this configuration, each channel operates in complete electrical isolation with its own dedicated power supply, maximizing channel separation and preserving the finest microdynamic detail. Dual-mono operation also expands capacity to four Current inputs and four Voltage inputs, offering unmatched flexibility for complex systems.

Further refinement comes through modular options. Installable EQ boards provide seven classic playback curves plus a Neumann pole overlay. A newly designed interface integrates these options seamlessly, with intuitive operation from the front panel, IR remote, or CH Control App—including visual indicators for active EQ engagement.

This breadth of possibilities makes the P10 not a fixed design, but an evolving instrument. Every modular choice reflects CH Precision’s culture: engineering that respects the individuality of each listener, protects long-term investment, and ensures that performance grows in step with the owner’s needs and aspirations.

L10 Reference Line Preamplifier—Options & Configurability

The L10 Reference Line Preamplifier is conceived as a true platform—capable of serving as a world-class stereo controller or evolving into a fully realized monaural reference. In its stereo configuration, a single chassis provides eight inputs and the complete L10 signal architecture. When expanded to a dual-chassis configuration, the L10 becomes a completely monaural line preamplifier, with one enclosure dedicated to each channel. In this arrangement, channel separation becomes absolute, the noise floor is further reduced, and musical focus gains even greater precision and stability.

For systems requiring expanded connectivity, each chassis in the monaural L10 can be fitted with an additional line preamplifier board, increasing total capacity to sixteen inputs. The upgrade path is deliberately designed to preserve investment: the right-channel section of an existing stereo L10 is transferred into a second enclosure—performed in the customer’s home—transforming the original unit into a dedicated left-channel line preamplifier. The two chassis are then networked, either directly via the supplied cable or through a network switch, and operate seamlessly as a single, unified instrument.

Power-supply options extend this flexibility further. While a stereo L10 delivers exceptional performance on its own, ultimate results are achieved when each monaural chassis is paired with its own external X1 power supply. In this fully realized configuration, the L10 reaches its highest level of resolution, dynamic authority, and composure—allowing it to evolve alongside the system it anchors, from reference stereo control to uncompromising dual-mono performance.

M10 Reference Amplifier—Options & Configurability

The M10 Reference Power Amplifier is conceived as a true platform—engineered to deliver uncompromising performance while offering exceptional system flexibility. In its standard configuration, a single M10 operates in stereo, with Mono, Bi-Amp, and Bridged modes selectable directly from the front panel, allowing the amplifier’s behavior to be precisely matched to system requirements.

In Bi-Amp mode, both inputs remain active within each M10, enabling use with loudspeakers that provide separate low- and high-frequency terminals, or in actively crossed systems where external crossovers define the signal path. This configuration allows the amplifier to exert greater control over individual frequency ranges while preserving coherence and timing.

When configured as twin-chassis monaural amplifiers, the right-channel input board from an existing M10 is transferred into a second enclosure, creating two fully independent mono amplifiers—one dedicated to each channel. In this arrangement, available power increases, channel separation becomes absolute, and control over complex loudspeaker loads is further enhanced. Bridged operation is also available when maximum output drive is required.

This modular architecture allows the M10 to evolve alongside the system it anchors—from a single stereo amplifier to a fully optimized multi-amplifier array—while preserving both performance integrity and long-term investment.

T10 Time Reference—GPS Board

The T10 Time References can be taken one step further with the optional GPS board, enabling them to lock directly to satellite-based atomic clocks. This upgrade ensures absolute long-term stability, a reference that remains unwavering not just for months or years, but for decades.

At CH Precision, such an option is never a mere technical flourish. It reflects our culture of progression—where precision is not pursued for its own sake, but as a means of protecting the listener’s bond with music. By anchoring our clocks to the most stable source available, we extend that bond to its furthest horizon: preserving temporal truth as faithfully tomorrow as it is today.

Created for the Journey

CH Precision’s approach to modularity is without precedent in high-end audio. The freedom to configure and expand each product is possible only because of the depth of engineering skill within our team. Every option—whether an input board, a clock module, or a path to true monaural operation—is conceived and executed in-house. This matters to us because it ensures that nothing limits performance or compromises the pursuit of musical truth.

Just as important, modularity reflects our culture of progression. CH systems are created not as fixed endpoints, but as instruments that can grow with their owners. Whether adding functionality, refining performance, or expanding into dual-mono architectures, every step is anticipated, every investment preserved. This is what makes CH Precision unique: products that not only set benchmarks today, but continue to evolve in step with the listener’s needs and aspirations tomorrow.
