Match Multiple Displays for Consistent Brightness and Color
Display panels naturally vary from one unit to another. Even displays of the same model may have slightly different brightness levels or color tones when they leave the factory.
When several components are installed side by side, these small variations can become noticeable. Display calibration allows you to compensate for them, adjusting each screen so that all displays appear consistent in both brightness and color.
Preparing for Calibration
Ideal Lighing Conditions:
Choose an ambient-lighting condition that reflects how you normally use the system, and keep the lighting unchanged throughout both calibrations. A display adjusted in a very dark room may become difficult to see when the room is brighter. Conversely, a Dimmed setting calibrated under normal lighting may appear excessively bright when the system is used in near darkness.
Access Controls:
Use the labeled front-panel buttons or, on models equipped with concentric controls, the Encoder dials to navigate the menu and select each setting. The available controls and their operation vary by product, so consult your model’s owner’s manual for detailed instructions.



Accessing Display Settings
Open Menu → Display to access the two calibration settings:

Brightness Dimmed
-
Brightness Normal
Each setting provides four controls:

One Brightness control for overall display intensity
-
Three color controls for the individual Red, Green, and Blue channels
-
Both brightness points should be calibrated. Once the Dimmed and Normal settings are matched, brightness levels between them should remain visually consistent across the system.
Use the White Patch as Your Reference
During calibration, the white patch provides a consistent visual reference across all devices. It reflects the current brightness and RGB settings in real time, allowing you to compare the displays directly.
The objective is not to reach identical numerical settings. It is to make the white patches appear identical in brightness and color tone.


Step 1: Calibrate the Dimmed Setting
Begin with Brightness Dimmed
The available brightness range is currently approximately 10% to 30%, with an increase to 40% planned for a future software release.
Reset the Color Controls
Set the R, G, and B controls to 0 on every display. This provides a neutral starting point before any color-channel compensation is applied.
Match the Overall Brightness
Adjust the main Brightness control on each device until all white patches appear approximately equal in intensity.
The numerical values do not need to match. One display may require a setting of 20%, while another may require 30%. What matters is that their apparent brightness is the same.
Step 2: Fine-Tune the Intensity with RGB—Dimmed Setting
Once the main brightness levels are close, the RGB controls can be used for finer adjustment.
Increasing Red, Green, and Blue by the same amount raises the overall intensity without significantly changing the color balance. For example, setting all three controls to +4 produces a small increase in brightness, similar to adding an intermediate brightness step.
Adjust all three channels together until the display intensities are as closely matched as possible.
Match the Color Tone
After matching brightness, compare the color tone of each white patch.
Each RGB channel can be adjusted independently from –12 to +12:

Increase Red to produce a warmer tone; decrease it for a cooler tone.

Adjust Green to correct a green or magenta bias.

Adjust Blue to produce a cooler tone; decrease it for a warmer tone.
Continue making small adjustments until all displays appear identical in both brightness and white balance.


Step 3: Calibrate the Normal Setting
Repeat the same process using Brightness set to Normal.
The Normal brightness range extends from approximately 10% to 100%, allowing you to establish the display level used under standard operating conditions.
As before:

Set the RGB controls to 0.

Match the displays using the main Brightness control.

Use equal RGB adjustments for fine intensity correction.

Adjust the individual color channels to match the white tone.
Once both the Dimmed and Normal settings are calibrated, intermediate brightness levels should track consistently across all displays.
Step 4: Verify the Brightness Level You Actually Use
After completing both calibrations, check the displays at the brightness level you use most often.
For example, you may calibrate the Normal setting at 80% but normally operate the displays at 50%. If the displays no longer appear closely matched at that level, repeat the Normal calibration using your usual operating brightness as the reference point.
The final judgment should always be made under real operating conditions, at the brightness level and ambient lighting you use most frequently.
