Issue 56 of VUmètre, French “Magazine Hi-Fi Independant Non Conformiste” sees Editor Laurent Thorin embarking on a voyage of discovery. Having already experienced the ‘growth potential’ of CH Precision’s 1 Series digital components, starting with the D1.5, before going on to sample the C1.2, X1 and T1, he’s now repeating that journey with the amplification. The first installment sees him listening to the L1 Line Stage and A1.5 Power Amplifier, with a later review covering the addition of the X1 External Power Supply and a second A1.5, creating the option to run mono-blocs or bi-amped systems.
But even running the basic, two-box set-up, he was “totally astounded by the amount of information we were able to detect in records we thought we knew perfectly well… The L1 and A1.5 set gives you an ‘inside’ view… The feeling of proximity is really enhanced… There’s much less distance between the signal and your ears.”
Of course, he says a whole lot more, but you’ll need to read the full review to find out the whole story.
